There are no absolutes. I used to think that chrome, lots of shiny chrome, was essential to an attractive bike. I no longer do. Take the above bike for example. I love the green/white/black colour scheme. I love the flat paint. And man do I ever love the white handlebars matching the white chain guard. This bike could use a couple of white mudguards and a different saddle, but other than that, this colorway is pretty damn close to perfect - sans chrome and all.
